About me...
I'm an American, and I've lived in France since 2004. I've got two children who attend the international school in Fontainebleau. My husband is French.
I've was born in Massachusetts and I've also lived in Connecticut, New York, Virginia, Texas, California and Switzerland.
I've had many different jobs in my life. For three years in high school, I was a car hop at two Sonic Drive-In restaurants in the Houston area. (I quit after one of them got robbed and moved to another in a safer place!) I earned $3.35 an hour...To see a menu (it's changed since then!) click here.
I went to college (university) here in radio/tv/film: http://www.shsu.edu/
And while there, I worked in radio as a news reporter and anchor here: http://ksam1017.com/ I still earned $3.35 an hour...
When I finished, I worked as a reporter/photographer for this small television station: www.kltv.com
I earned only $6 an hour. (Television jobs in small stations don't pay a lot.) I had been earning $10 an hour as a waitress my first year in college! At midnight of my first day of work at KLTV, the station was sold, so I left after just six months.
Next, I worked as a producer here: http://www.kbtx.com/. In that job, I chose the stories we would use for the newscast and helped decide where the reporters would go for the day. It was better paid, but long hours!
I stayed for a year and got a job at the local university: www.tamu.edu. I had a great time working as an audio/video producer there for six years. I traveled all over the state. Texas A&M is one of America's biggest universities.
I earned my master's in education while I was there, then I became an administrator at the local school system: www.csisd.org. At the time, we had ten schools and 7,000 students. I worked as the director of public relations.
Three years later I moved to Switzerland and then to New York state. I worked as a freelance writer from home for awhile, then we moved to France.
Since living in France, I have been teaching English. My students have been all ages -- from three years old to retirement age.
